Afrim’s Sports Adding 5th Capital Region Complex
If your kids participate in any indoor sports in the Capital Region, chances are they have had a game at one of the Afrim's Sports complexes. Now there will be a fifth location. This time it's up north.
Afrim Nezaj, owner of Afrim's has decided to add another sports complex to his many throughout the Capital Region. He is heading up the Northway this time to Queensbury. He is in the process of buying the Adirondack Sports Complex. This is located at 326 Sherman Ave.
The indoor space (the dome) has one hundred and eight thousand square feet. The indoor space will not only hold sporting events, but will also have trade shows, gatherings, and other events. There are also nine acres of outdoor sports fields.
The previous owners of the Adirondack Sports Complex, Doug and Terri Miller have decided to retire and feel Afrim's is the perfect fit. Afrim has been managing the facility since November 1st of last year according to the Albany Business Review.
Afrim Nezaj owns four other Afrim's Sports complexes. They are in Colonie, Latham, Bethlehem, and Malta. He has forty full-time employees and between referees and part-time employees, he has one hundred fifty. He said that having the staff he does allows him to add another complex.
He said that all of his facilities have about 750,000 people who visit each year.
As long as we have the winter weather in Albany, people will want to play indoors. A lot of people these days, it seems like they're specializing in sports. If you're a lacrosse kid, you play every season. I think there's a trend toward that.
The sale is set to be final by the end of January.
