If you are looking to volunteer this summer for a wonderful organization and to cheer on some amazing athletes, then you are needed. The 2017 Special Olympics New York State Summer Games will be held in just a few weeks.Volunteers are needed not only to help with various events like Aquatics, Athletics (Track and Field), Tennis and Volleyball but also as "Fans In The Stands". This allows the athletes to have cheering sections throughout the events, opening ceremonies and other activities.

The Special Olympics provide athletes with a chance to demonstrate their skills and courage, but without volunteers, it is nearly impossible to pull off the events. The day most volunteers are needed is Saturday June 17th. Opening ceremonies will be Friday June 16th at 8pm and will feature the parade of athletes, entertainment and the lighting of the Special Olympics cauldron. The games run from June 16th through June 18th at Siena College.
