Upstate NY Snow Update: Up To A Foot Possible For Some Areas Monday
The Capital Region will see its first good chunk of snow for the season on Monday, and some areas could see up to a foot.
It has been a mostly rainy December so far here in the Capital Region, but we knew it was just a matter of time until we got that first good snowfall of the season. That time is Monday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of Upstate New York from 1 am to 1 pm Monday,
So how much snow will we get? Before we get to snowfall predictions, let's dig into the forecast.
News Channel 13 First Warning Forecast
According to News Channel 13, rain will be steady through the afternoon and temperatures will be pretty mild with a high of 56.
Things will shift tonight when temperatures drop across the area earluy Monday morningwith a low of 34 overnight. Rain will turn to snow and will continue into the afternoon, tapering off late day.
Upstate New York Snowfall Predictions
How much snow will your town get? Here are the latest snowfall predictions from the National Weather Service:
Adirondacks/North Country
Areas around Newcomb and Old Forge can expect 8 to 12 inches of snowfall.
Greater Albany Area
Albany and the surrounding towns can expect 3 to 4 inches of snow accumulation
Cooperstown/Oneonta
Cooperstown could see up to a foot of snow, with 6 to 8 inches expected in Oneonta.
Saratoga Springs/Glens Falls
Northern Saratoga County area can expect 2 to 3 inches of snow, with areas north and west getting 3 to 4 inches.
Cobleskill
Cobleskill and Schoharie Country are expected to get 4 to 6 inches of fresh powder.
Utica/Herkimer County
4 to 6 inches is expected in the Utica area.
