With the go-ahead from Governor Cuomo to open movie theaters in Upstate New York, there were still questions on which ones would be showing movies this Friday. We now know that two of the Regal Cinemas in the Capital Region will be open. Not only were we waiting for the governor to give the okay for movie theaters to reopen, but we also got the terrible news that Regal Cinemas in the United States and England may be closing for good. There is a silver lining for the silver screen. We will have two of our theaters opening this Friday.

According to CBS 6 News, you will be able to get the Regal Cinemas experience in Crossgates Mall and in Colonie Center starting this Friday. There is no word on when Regal Cinemas Clifton Park will open. Before the pandemic hit, there was a new way to get your seats. They implemented a ticket purchase where you have to pick the seat you will be sitting in for that movie. This is actually helpful for the pandemic. Since there is a limited capacity to twenty-five percent or fifty people per screen, the ticketing system will be helpful when having to social distance.

Other local movie theaters are set to open too. Bowtie Cinemas says it will be ready to open on October 30th. They are working to make sure the air conditioning systems and all other protocols are in place.

Hopefully, more Regal Cinemas and other movie theaters will be opening up in the weeks to come.
