Trips On A Tankful: Esquire’s New York Towns You Have To Visit

The first day of spring is this Saturday which means weekend road trip season is here. Here are two New York towns you need to add to your list of destinations according to Esquire Magazine.

If you are looking for an easy drive to a destination or two for some weekend getaways, look no further than Skaneateles and Corning, New York. Both destinations recently made Esquire's list of "Charming American Towns You Haven't Heard of But Should Visit ASAP." Chances are as a New Yorker you have heard of both of these towns, but maybe you have not visited just yet. Thankful, both are just a tank of gas away.

Let's start with Skaneateles. First, it is just in an absolutely beautiful spot right on the northern end of Skaneateles Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. So a waterfront location is an immediate win. Now let's talk about charming because this is a town on the 'charming' list. The downtown area is full of charming shops, restaurants, and more, which are highlighted on the Skaneateles town website. You can even do a little cruise on the lake while you are there. And how about this added bonus: you are right in the heard of Finger Lakes wine country, with a great list of wineries right in the area on the Finger Lakes Tourism website.

If you take a left turn at Skaneateles and head just south of the Finger Lakes you will end up in Corning. Now Corning has all the charm with Chemung River water frontage and a lot of interesting history. Corning is known for its history of creating works made of blown glass which you can revisit at The Corning Museum of Glass. Corning is also home to the Rockwell Museum which features "Western and contemporary Native American Art" according to the Town of Corning website.
