Tragedy in Lake George: 2 Dead, 2 Injured as Americade Winds Down
Route 9 in Lake George was closed down for much of the day Sunday, just one day after the annual Americade motorcycle rally was had officially wrapped up. Reports came out late Sunday afternoon that an accident had taken place, but very few details were released. It is now being reported by the Times Union and CBS 6 that two people were killed and two people were injured, one critically, in a motorcycle accident in the area of Lake George Expedition Park.
One of the pedestrians killed was an 8 year old boy, identified as Quinton Delgoteto of Lake George. Thirty-eight year old James Parsons, also of Lake George, was killed in the accident. A third pedestrian, 30 year old Jasmine Lullen of Lake George, was injured and taken to Albany Med where she is said to be in stable condition.
The driver of the motorcycle, 33 year old Anthony Futia of Albany, is in critical condition at Albany Med.
The cause of the crash is still being invesetigated, though New York State Police did issue a statement saying the motorcycle was moving at a 'high rate of speed' northbound on Route 9, when it went off the road onto a bike path where six pedestrians were walking. The other three pedestrians in the group were not injured.
The Americade is one of the largest events in Lake George, drawing tens of thousands of motorcycle riders, enthusiasts, and spectators to the town. This year was the first year it was held on its traditional date since the pandemic.
