The Double M Rodeo is no more according to the owners of the long-running Capital Region tradition.

The owners of the Double M Western Store have given residents in Saratoga County - and all of Upstate New York - many thrills over the years.  Be it by their cool country-western-inspired clothing store, their upstate-famous haunted hayrides, or the thrill of their long-running rodeo which had a great run dating back to the late 1980s.

On Monday, the owners of the Double M posted a heartfelt message to rodeo fans who have enjoyed cattle competitions there for decades, telling them that they've seen their last rodeo.

"We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our rodeo family, contestants and patrons who have made Double M rodeo the success that it was. We have decided to close this chapter in our lives. Of course, no change or decision is easy but as we all have experienced in the last 2 years, life is not forever."

Owners Wayne and Cidey Martin softened the blow by informing patrons that while the rodeo is closing down, the Western Store and the Double M Hayrides, will remain open.

Adding, "We thank each and every person that has brought their family and friends to the rodeo to have a memorable experience year after year. We have tons of memories we have captured over the last 40 + years that we will never forget and often revisit. We hope you can say the same. Thanks for the ride, it was amazing! Now time to enjoy our lives a little without regret."
