When I saw this list in a headline I have to admit I thought, "You know New York has to be at the bottom of this list."  I was very surprised to learn that New York is not at the bottom of the list it is actually quite mediocre.

The list which was published by WalletHub in an article called, "2017’s Best & Worst States to Raise a Family" ranked all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on over 40 factors involved with raising a family. They used factors like unemployment, housing costs, education, infant mortality and many more.

After all of the factors were added up the best state to raise a family in 2017 was, North Dakota with a total score of 65.81 and the worst place to raise a family was New Mexico with a total score of 38.58. Our great state of New York was almost dead middle of the pack at 24 with a total score of 53.95.

Still I have to wonder how much they factored in weather and taxes.
