This week I had an opportunity to see my Yankees play the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Yankees lost in the ninth inning but I must admit , it wasn't a horrible time. I left there thinking that Fenway was one of the coolest places to see a professional sports team.

We've all wanted to do it from time to time.  Some get so frustrated, they'd like to do it every day.   Throw your cellphone.  just pitch it across the living room and let it create a large dent in the drywall.  well, these guys actually made a contest out of it.

Don't get me wrong.  It would be Un-American to totally diss the Olympics.  I'm all for getting behind our teams over there.  But I'm a little bit old school when it comes to the sports I'm accustomed to seeing during the coverage of the Olympics.  I will now present my humble opinion in song form and then we'll see if you agree

We all marvel at the money athletes make these days. It really does seem amazing that people can be rewarded so highly for something they would probably do for free. Yesterday the Baltimore Orioles beat the Red Sox 9-6 in a game went 17 innings and lasted 6 hours and 17 minutes. That is quite a long time to sit through a game and  I have been in that situation before. I was in attendance for the longest AHL game in history back in 2008.

Besides it being Saturday, which is usually enough for most of us  to celebrate, but there are two more.

I don't understand this world anymore. It seems as we have moved into the future in so many ways in society, we have also been reverting into the dark ages.  I am talking about censorship and political correctness.

I came across an article on the "Times Union" website about a professional beer pong tournament. It actually sounds like a lot of fun if you want to do it, it's at "Jillian's" tonight. The thing that stands our for me though is, there is no beer involved.

So after being postponed because it was (as Keith Urban sings) "Raining On Sunday", on Monday night, the 2012 Daytona 500 finally happened.

Tell me-who doesn't like getting a trophy?  But not everyone can be a scratch golfer, a world series homerun hitter or an Olympic gold medalist.   Does that mean NOONE else should get one besides the greatest of the greatest?  Not if you ask these coaches from Connecticut (or Jeff Levack, our producer!)
