We all know we are "River Rats" at heart here in New York State. When it comes to charming river towns, New York is home to the top ones in America.

If you fish in rivers and lakes near the Adirondacks, you will be pleasantly surprised. The New York Department of Environmental Conservation has teamed up with local hatcheries to stock more fish. This will allow fishermen to fish late in the fall.

Governor Cuomo announced this morning that casinos can reopen in New York this coming Wednesday, September 9th.

Crowds have missed casinos and casinos have certainly missed crowds.  Two of the more prominent casinos in the Northeast, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, opened their doors on Monday in Connecticut.  Turning Stone Resort Casino is planning for a June 10th opening.  Closer to home, Rivers Casino and Resort in Schenectady is preparing for what they believe may happen in about a month.

The weather is turning much colder which means it's almost time to go ice fishing. Here are a few tips to help you stay safe on the ice while you enjoy one of the most popular winter activities in our area.
