Thursday afternoon, prior to the New York defeating the St. Louis Cardinal by a score of 7-6, on a walk-off moon-shot by the polar bear, Pete Alonso, the Mets announced that Max Scherzer would be out for 6 to 8 weeks. Scherzer removed himself from the game in the middle of a batter with 2 outs in the 6th inning. Even though they are in first place and twelve games over .500, the Amazin's need pitching help.

In 2022, every American League East victory is going to be crucial for the New York Yankees. That's why Sunday night was so important. Even though there are 159 games left for the Pinstripes, manager Aaron Boone knows this division will decided by a few games or less. A three game sweep would have been sweet but Boston showed that they too plan to stick around this season with their 4-3 victory in series finale.

The Wild Card game wasn't exactly the goal that Hal Steinbrenner had for his franchise this year. But baseball can be a cruel game. If Giancarlo Stanton hits that baseball a fraction of a millimeter differently in the 6th inning on Tuesday, that game is tied and there may have been a different result. But he didn't and there wasn't. That is what baseball does. It is extremely humbling.

Baseball schedulers couldn't have scripted the 2021 baseball season any better. A storybook ending for the American League Wild Card race will maybe somehow would put the icing on the COVID 19 plagued season. Maybe it will make the players forget the impending termination of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the untrustworthy owners. Nah but the final week will be WILD!

Tuesday and Wednesday, those old "Jeter" jerseys, along with the new "Judge" pinstripes will turn "blue and orange" as the Mets head to Fenway Park in Boston to take on the Red Sox. This is an important week for the Bombers as they try to gain ground on the Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays, who are facing the Tampa Bay Rays this week, in the crazy American League Wild Card race. Aaron Boone and his crew from the Bronx would love nothing more than a nice two game sweep of Boston by their National League brothers from Queens. The Yankees trail Toronto for the second Wild Card by 1/2 game.

One of my favorite events in Saratoga is the Saratoga Wine and Food Festival. I may not be a Boston Red Sox fan (Go Yankees!) but it's still pretty awesome that a baseball player this famous will be in Saratoga next month.

I’m Heartbroken Over The Passing Of This Amazing 5 Year Old
This is just so so sad.  I don't know what else to say. Ari Schultz from Massachusetts, the most adorable and brave 5 year old you'll ever see, died on Friday from complications due to his heart transplant back in March.  This amazing little man was a huge Red Sox fan and passed away listening to his beloved baseball team. Videos that his parents made before he passed away are simply heartbreaking

Woman Critically Injured At Fenway Park Is Expected To Survive
Fenway Park was the scene of one of the most tragic and completely freak accidents to happen at a baseball game. 44 year old Tonya Carpenter was sitting near the field between home plate and third base with her son and a friend when the most unlikely of tragedies happened. Tonya Carpenter was struck in the head by a piece of Oakland player Brett Lawrie's bat which had broke, even splintered when h
