Tuesday and Wednesday, those old "Jeter" jerseys, along with the new "Judge" pinstripes will turn "blue and orange" as the Mets head to Fenway Park in Boston to take on the Red Sox. This is an important week for the Bombers as they try to gain ground on the Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays, who are facing the Tampa Bay Rays this week, in the crazy American League Wild Card race. Aaron Boone and his crew from the Bronx would love nothing more than a nice two game sweep of Boston by their National League brothers from Queens. The Yankees trail Toronto for the second Wild Card by 1/2 game.

First things first, are the New York Mets up to the task of beating the Red Sox? Well, Tuesday future free agent pitcher Marcus Stroman takes the hill for New York. Stroman has quietly been the Amazin's best pitcher, when of course Jacob deGrom is not available. The cool thing for Marcus is he has been available and pitched well all year. This should pay off handsomely for the right-hander from Long Island at the end of the year. Stroman may have easily pitched himself into the $150 - $200 million range for his next contract. That's crazy but probably true.

Wednesday night, the Mets will put Tylor Megill on the mound. The rookie has pitched fairly well this year and if not for efforts like his this year, the Mets would already be eliminated.

One thing to keep in the back of your mind. The National League East Leading Atlanta Braves have played terribly in their last 25 games. The Mets are 6 games behind them with 9 games to play before New York and Atlanta face off for the last 3 games of the season. This is put up or shut up time for the Mets. Owner Steve Cohen's new toy has been a dysfunctional mess, directly on par with his predecessors, the Wilpons.

Trust me Steve, those aren't comparisons that you want to hear. Personally, I don't think this team has the make-up to win consistently. Unfortunately for their fans, the Mets are way further away from success than their big brothers in the Bronx. That's no surprise to Mets fans. Good luck Steve. You bought a mess.

Long and short, the Mets have enough in their line-up to take advantage of the Green Monster. Lindor, Alonso, and Baez have the firepower, if guys like McNeil, Nimmo and anyone playing 3rd base can get on base. With the Mets, it's all a giant IF. However, IF the Yankees take care of business with Texas this week and IF the Mets can somehow get hot in Boston for a couple of days, the Bombers could find themselves in the "Wild Card driver's seat" heading into Boston this weekend.

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
