Skidmore College Makes History As A “Best Choice Restaurant”
When I think of the best restaurants I've ever been to, I'll think of places like Rao's, who have history and the food to back it up.

I'd probably never consider a college dining hall, but one Capital Region college has gone above and beyond...

What is a "Best Choice Restaurant"?
The Monterey Bay Aquarium has a program known as "Seafood Watch", which recognizes restaurants that not only serve great seafood, but also practice sustainability on their menus.
"Best Choice Restaurants" source their seafood from fisheries or aquaculture operations that catch and farm in an environmentally conscious manner. Seafood Watch helps these restaurants keep their menus ethically and environmentally friendly so they can hold their heads high when serving their patrons.
Skidmore College Makes the List
In a stunning turn of events, Skidmore College Dining Services have been added to Seafood Watch's list of "Best Choice Restaurants". What makes this even more insane is that they are the first ever collegiate dining program to be given the honor.
Sure, Skidmore is environmentally conscious when they source their food for their dining halls, but what sets them apart from the rest is their ability to create legitimately good food. Their sustainability efforts have forced them to explore more underutilized options, making them a unique dining experience, serving things you may have never tasted before.
Coming from a school who's best dining hall meals were their burgers, I can't begin to explain how jealous I am of Skidmore students now, being able to eat at one of the best restaurants in the country day in and day out.
