New York state is looking for two special trees to display for the holidays at the Capitol. Here's how to donate and show off your tree. The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) is looking for two beautiful spruce trees to display for the holidays in front of the Capitol. OGS says that the property owners that donate the trees will have them removed in mid-November at no cost to the owners. The trees will then be lit as part of the state's big fireworks event and tree lighting ceremony in December.

The spruce trees must be between thirty five and fifty five feet tall. OGS says it would be helpful if the trees were near or in the Capital Region free from power lines and easily accessible. One of the trees will be used on the Empire State Plaza on the south side of the Capitol near the ice skating rink and the other will be in East Capitol Park.

If you would like your spruce tree to be considered, please contact OGS.
