I'm a 15 year resident of the town of Niskayuna.  It's a great area with a fantastic location and equally phenomenal schools.  It's also the home of Blatnick Park, named after Olympic gymnast Jeff Blatnick. Theres a proposal in the works to construct  a sports facility on the property.  "Say what?  We pay enough", say the disgruntled taxpayers.

When in doubt, complain about taxes, right?  Makes you want to march right down to the Niskayuna Town Hall and give them a piece of our minds, huh?  Maybe we should start an "Occupy Blatnick" movement.  Yea? YEA!

Not so fast.  Cool your jets.  It turns out, according to YNN, that taxes have nothing to do with it. According to one board member, Julie McDonnell:

Funding would come from several sources. $100,000 would come from the town's parkland trust fund, the lacrosse and soccer teams raised $200,000 on their own to fund the project, and $350,000 would be borrowed.

I guess they are still fighting about this as we speak.  Meanwhile the town has soccer and lacrosse teams that need a place to play. Come on, guys.  Do you want your children inside playing World of Warcraft and going on websites that they shouldn't lay their eyes on?  Give them something to get them out of the house and keeping them active. Plus,  interest rates are very low right now.  I say, "good investment".  What do YOU say?
