“She Was in the Team Huddle!” Siena Coach Shares Hilarious Story About his Mom on GNA Morning Show
Siena women's head basketball coach Jim Jabir has been around college basketball a long time, and man does he have some stories to tell! He shared a great one with Brian and Chrissy in the morning recently, on 107.7 GNA. Hear it below!
While this is Jabir's first year with this group of players, it's actually his second stint as head coach in Loudonville, having coached the Siena women in the late 80s. Jabir was only 24-years-old when he took over the job in 1987 and had quite a run.
Following Jabir's 3 seasons in the Capital Region, he had successful coaching stints at Marquette, Providence, and Dayton.
Tonight's Siena women's game at UHY Center is a Pink Zone game and the players will "honor, recognize and fundraise for survivors and thrivers, and their courageous battle with breast cancer."
The Saints say that all proceeds are used to fund To Life’s! extensive education programs, support services, and wellness programs held throughout the year.
In addition to spreading the word about tonight's Pink Zone game, Jabir shared a pretty hilarious story with us about the time his cute, little mom got lost inside MVP Arena (back when it was the Times Union Center) during a game that her son was coaching,
But it was where she reappeared later during the game, that was even more hilarious.
