Friday Night Lights glamorized and dramatized high school football on TV. Different areas have various levels of enthusiasm for the gridiron. In the Capital Region, this is a huge weekend coming up that will draw the attention of thousands of local fans and students. Section II high school football enjoys its brightest spotlight this week as the Section II football committee announced the Class AA, Class A, Class C and Class D championship times and locations on Sunday.

The big school game will be the Class AA championship between Shenendehowa, who upset undefeated Shaker on Friday night 17-14, and Christian Brothers Academy, coming off their victory over Guilderland in the AA semi-final 20-7 on Friday night. The two teams will meet at 7pm on Friday night at Shaker High School.

In the Class A championship game, Queensbury, who went through Averill Park 48-35 to earn their spot, takes on Burnt Hills, after they edged LaSalle 21-20, Saturday night at 7pm at Shenendehowa High School.

The other Friday night game will be the Class C championship game featuring undefeated Schuylerville, coming off of a 48-0 pounding of Voorheesville, takes on 7-1 Fonda-Fultonville following their 20-14 victory over Hoosick Falls in the semi-finals. Those teams will kick off at 7pm Friday at Lansingburgh High School.

Saturday's afternoon's final games will start with the Class D championship. Undefeated Greenwich, coming off of their 48-20 semi-final victory, marches into to Schuylerville High School to take on Stillwater, who was very tough against Warrensburg in their 31-12 victory last Saturday. That game kicks off at 1pm.

The Class B championship will be played at 3pm on Saturday at CBA with 8-2 Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, following their surprise turnaround Saturday against Glens Falls 35-28. Glens Falls pounded RCS the week prior 42-0. Well that didn't sit well and the results got turned around quickly for RCS. They will take on Gloversville, coming off their 15-14 victory over Schalmont to advance. It will certainly be a fun weekend for high school football in the Capital Region.
