CBA & Schulyerville Win, Plus Big Upsets In Friday Football Recap
There were 38 teams suiting up in Section 2 for Friday night football this week with some pretty dramatic match-ups for WEEK 2. The biggest game of the evening was #1 CBA visiting #3 Shaker, played in front of a packed house in Latham. There were two big upsets, including one road-team victory in Ravena.
Let's get to the action, according to James Allen of timesunion.com, CBA dominated the first half before Shaker responded with three second half scores to force overtime. Shaker missed a two-point conversion to win the game in overtime and ended up on the short end. #1 CBA wins 35-34. #2 Schuylerville had an easy time getting by Granville-Whitehall, 42-0. How about some upsets?
Let's get to some wild results on Friday night in Section 2. The biggest upset happened when #10 Hoosick Falls-Tamarac blasted #4 powerhouse Stillwater 41-7. The other was in Ravena on their home field when the #5 RCSHS fell to visiting #8 Glens Falls 21-13. In other ranked action #7 Guilderland rolled Colonie 35-7, while #11 Amsterdam plowed #21 Queensbury 60-35. #13 Ballston Spa beat Columbia 34-14. #15 Gloversville got by #25 Lansingburgh 22-6. #16 Cambridge/Salem whacked Canajoharie-Fort Plain 47-12. #19 LaSalle knocked off #24 Niskayuna 25-7. #22 Saratoga Springs took care of Bethlehem on the Eagles home filed 27-8.
In some non-ranked action Albany traveled to Mohonasen and came away with a 14-0 victory. Troy beat South Glens Falls 40-6. Broadalbin-Perth shutout Hudson 40-0, while Icabod Crane smacked Taconic Hills 27-8. Gouveneur blasted Hudson Falls 53-0. There were some scores that were not updated.
