It's a familiar face and sound that has been entertaining us for twenty five years and now he has decided to retire. An icon at the Saratoga Race Course has hung up his hat. If you have ever been to the track, you have heard this guy play. Well, after 25 years, Sam "The Bugler" Grossman has played his last "Call To Post". According to News 10 ABC, Sam "The Bugler" played his last note yesterday, the last day of the 2018 meet.

To honor Sam "The Bugler", NYRA named the fifth race during the Labor Day races after him. He has been doing the "Call To Post" since 1993 and has played, not only in Saratoga, but at Aqueduct Racetrack and Belmont Park.

Sam said of his twenty five years at Saratoga, "This has been the best time of my life. I have worked with brilliant people who humble me daily. The fans in Saratoga are the most vibrant and colorful people I'd ever want to spend a summer with."
