It's remarkable to think that out of all of the 12U Little League All-Star teams in the entire state of New York, two of the four remaining teams still vying for a chance to play at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA are from the Capital Region.  For Colonie Little League and Rotterdam Carman LL, things couldn't have set up better for both teams who have advanced to the NY State Semi-Finals, in-line to possibly face one another in the championship game.  Here's how they got there:

On Thursday, eight teams made the trip to Penfield, NY competing in the round robin style tournament.

In the opening round matchup, the All-Stars from Colonie and Rotterdam Carman squared off against each other in a game won by Colonie, 7-3.

Colonie would go on to win the next two games they played by a combined score of 29-2, finishing pool play with a record of 3-0.

RC would split the next two games ending pool play with a record of 1-2, but a fortuitous tie-breaker advanced them to the semi-finals which begin on Saturday afternoon.  Win and advance to the finals. Lose and the glorious run is over.

Here's the schedule for Saturday's Semi-Finals:

Game 1 takes place at 12:00pm: Mid Island vs Rotterdam Carman

Game 2 takes place at 3:00pm: Vestal vs Colonie

So here we are.  This couldn't have set up better for our two area teams that are one win away from facing each other in the State Championship on Sunday at 1pm; something few could have ever imagined when the All-Star play began earlier this month.

The team that emerges out of the final 4, will be the New York State representative in the Mid-Adlantic Regionals in Bristol, CT August 8th-14th for the right to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

Good luck to both area teams, we'll be watching and rooting!
