A deal has been reached in the assault case against Rodney Atkins The country music singer will not be prosecuted on the misdemeanor domestic assault charge brought against him by his wife, provided he meets court-ordered conditions.  Atkins was arrested back in November after his wife, Tammy Jo Atikins, told police he attacked her and tried to suffocate her with a pillow.

A Tennesee judge agreed to rretireAtkins' charge on Wednesday.  The charge will be removed from Rodney's record if he stays out of trouble for 11 months and 29 days.  He also is required to complete 30 hours of community service.

Atkins’ attorney said he passed anger management, drug and alcohol evaluations as part of the deal as well, which were ordered by the court.  However, his attorney was also quick to point out that Rodney never admitted any guilt despite taking the deal.
