Rob Lowe And DIRECTV Have Some People Pretty Upset With Their Latest ‘Painfully Awkward’ TV Ad. What Do You Think?
Rob Lowe is good looking, confident, and seems to be easily popular in any room he finds himself. Many people admire those things about the guy, we wish we could be more like him.
"Awkward" Rob Lowe is the opposite, he is not good looking, awkward and not comfortable in any room with anyone else in it. I get it, "cool" Rob Lowe is cool because he has DIRECTV . These commercials from DIRECTV are really a parody of all of the commercials that try to make you think that you can somehow be cooler if you use a specific product.
While this seems like a simple concept it has apparently got the 7% of Americans who suffer from "shy bladder syndrome" pretty upset. It seems that these people do not like the way they are being portrayed by Mr. Lowe in the commercial and would like DIRECTV to pull the adds as soon as possible.
Apparently one of the guys who is mad about the ad said, "We don't mind if people have a little fun with it. [But this] portrayal is making it look ridiculous, that [he's] a loser for having a problem. What if he didn't have a leg or an arm? Are you going to make fun of that?"
Keep in mind that DIRECTV and Rob Lowe have made similar ads about people who are "creepy", "Hairy" and "Far less attractive", and so far people with "shy bladder syndrome" are the only ones who have complained.
DIRECTV has said they have no plans to pull the commercial and that they believe that the people who are upset need to lighten up. What do you think? Take a look at the Ad and let me know if these people have a right to be upset or do they indeed need to, "lighten up?"
