There is a possibility a popular outdoors store is getting ready to open a local store.

According to a Times Union report, REI could be sizing up the old Sears at the Colonie Center as a new location for the popular outdoor gear & apparel retailer. It is only a possibility at this point as REI is in the preliminary stages of setting up shop in  the location. The first step was to apply for 'zoning-verification' to see if the REI store could take over the old Sears, and that application was approved earlier this month. The application itself referred to the construction of a '25,600 foot REI store,' according to the Times Union.

If you visit the REI website, you will see the retailer is a little bit of shopping paradise for the avid outdoors person. They sell any outdoors gear you could imagine including camping, hiking, paddling snow and more. An Albany area location would be a welcome addition for REI fans here in the Capital Region.
