The Purple Pub In Watervliet Coming Back With New Name & Owners
A legendary Capital Region waterhole is coming back to life under new ownership.
It was definitely bittersweet news for fans of the Purple Pub last week when the owners Greg & Butch Rentz announced they were closing their to-go operation after closing the dining room and bar late last year. The closing marked the end of an amazing 51-year run for the pub and will be missed, but will also allow give Greg & Butch to spend more time with family and enjoy retirement. We also got word this week that another popular local watering hole, JJ Rafferty's in Latham, is planning to close soon as well.
The Purple Pub Gets New Owners And A New Name
But the wait was not long for fans of the Purple Pub location to get the great news of a new bar and grille coming to life in Watervliet!
Are you familiar with the Cobblesotne Lunch Shoppe in Albany? It is a quaint eatery located on Maiden Lane in Albany. According to the Times Union, the Cobblestone's owners are taking over the Purple Pub to open "Trestle Restaurant & Pub." The Times Union says the new owners hope to start serving up take-out pizza in the next 2 weeks followed by opening the restaurant and dining room soon after. The owner's goal is to keep the pizzas coming as soon as possible for those who loved the Purple Pub!
