Popular Latham Bar & Grille Set To Close After 20 Years
For the 2nd time this week, we are passing along news about another legendary pub and grub closing its doors for good.
While the news yesterday was not a surprise after the pared back to a to-go-only operation late last year, the news that the Purple Pub in Watervliet was still sad nonetheless. Locals have been gathering there for food and drink for over 50 years!
Now, we are passing along news that another Capital Region favorite known for its live entertainment is closing up shop after a pretty long 20-plus-year run of its own.
JJ Rafferty's Bar & Grille In Latham Plans To Close
In a post on their Facebook page Monday, the popular bar & grille announced the entertainment lineup for "our last weekend." A Times Union report clarified with the eatery that this coming weekend would be the last to feature live bands and an exact closing date would be determined later this week and announced "...soon as retirement beckons its ownership."
As disappointing as it is to lose some of our favorite watering holes and gathering places, it is nice to know retirement and the owners of JJ's and The Purple Pub getting to enjoy a little bit more of life is the reason for these closures.
