Summer in Saratoga: Pay More To Park In The SPA City
The Belmont Stakes are coming to the Saratoga Race Course in early June. We all know this will give a big boost to the economy. There is another plan that was just approved that will bring even more revenue. Get ready to pay to park in Saratoga Springs.
Saratoga Springs has approved a new pay-to-park program. This will go into effect from Memorial Day through Labor Day in the city. If you park in the lots or city garages you will now have to pay two dollars per hour. However, street parking, including Broadway will still be free.
Local Residents Get A Break
If you live, work, or own a business in downtown Saratoga Springs, you can register your license plate online or at city hall to avoid the fees. And there’s good news for Saratoga Springs School District residents, you’ll get a discount. Plus, if you accidentally get a ticket, there’s a forgiveness program.
Why Start This Paid Parking Program?
The goals of the program are to help residents with parking availability, to make visitor parking access easier, to boost business with long-term parking plans, and to help with the confusion of downtown Saratoga parking. The main objective is to generate revenue to cover the costs of the parking structures and maintenance. Saratoga Springs expects to generate $1.5 million.
The pay stations should be installed soon and the program will begin Memorial Day and run through Labor Day. All other times parking will be free.
