The weather is finally getting nicer which means we can get out and exercise. One of the best ways to do that is along the Mohawk Hudson Bike-Hike Trail. Be aware though if you are going to head out, there will be some sections that will be closed or under construction.

I have enjoyed the tranquility and the beauty of the Mohawk Hudson Bike-HikeTrail in various sections of the Capital Region. We used to live near the entrance to the part of the path in Cohoes. We would sometimes ride our bikes or go for long walks with our dog, Freddie. Either way, it's a great place to get fresh air and exercise in a safe environment. The cool thing about the Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail is that it extends 97 miles from the Hudson Valley through the Capital Region to the Erie Canalway.

According to News 10 ABC, there will be occasional closings along part of the Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail. It will affect Anthony Street and Aqueduct Road in the Town of Niskayuna. It will happen on and off through April 30th because of the access road construction for Rivers Ledge development. There are detour and closure signs on the bike trail crossings to make users aware of the closings. This construction will only take place during the week and the trails will be fully open on the weekends.

The Rivers Ledge project will have direct access from the Mohawk Hudson Bike-Hike Trail to the Mohawk River. There will also be improvements to Aqueduct Park like benches, historic signage, riverside overlook areas, and a new trailhead with parking.
