It's welcome news for fans of the great outdoors and the Bassmaster pro fishing tour.

The Bassmaster Elite Series is planning to return to the region in 2021. According to a New York Upstate story, the tournament will come to Lake Champlain July 8th through 11th and will have fishing on both the New York and Vermont sides of the lake. A tournament will also be held on the St. Lawrence River the following weekend, July 15th through 18th. Last summer protocols and guidelines became too much of a hurdle for an event that was scheduled for July 14th through 17th at Cayuga Lake, according to the New York Upstate report. The tournament was able to visit the St. Lawrence River last summer.

It certainly seems like we will have a more normal summer in 2021 as far as events in the area, the question at this point remains how normal. While the Buffalo Bills will be doing a test run with limited fans in the stands for their first playoff game, how the test run goes and the progress we make with the pandemic will ultimately chart the course for the year ahead. Those prospects might not seem very positive right now with the virus still spiking. But, it feels like once we get through the holiday wave and the vaccine really starts getting out to the general public we will be in for better news in the spring.

Let's hope that is the case as we will soon be nearing the one year mark of living with the pandemic.
