Possible Changes For Uses Of Food Stamps

Food stamps are meant to help people do their grocery shopping and some other necessities, but almost everyone knows that isn’t always the case.

In a story from CBS 6 Albany, New York State Senator Tom Libous held a press conference on Tuesday in Albany. He wants to make some changes for the use of the Electronic Benefit Transfer Cards (E.B.T.). People that get food stamps can use them legally at places like casinos, liquor stores and also strip clubs.

He’s concerned that if New York State doesn't make changes to on parr with the federal government, the state could lose a lot of federal money if the Public Assistance Integrity Act is not passed by the Assembly which, for the past two years, has let the bill die. The Senate has been on board with the proposed changes.
