N.Y.S. Senate Leader Dean Skelos To Face Charges
I want to say it's hard to believe that yet another powerful New York State politician is facing charges, but it seems like we have actually become a little numb to these announcements. Spitzer, Bruno, Silver and now New York State Senate leader Republican Dean Skelos is being charged.
The charges against Skelos include extortion and soliciting a bribe according to a federal investigation. It seems that these charges stem from awarding a 12 million dollar contract to AbTech, a company out of Arizona that just happened to have hired Dean's son Adam as a consultant.
While Dean Skelos and his son Adam are implicated in these charges it seems AbTech is cooperating with investigators and will probably not face charges as a result of the deal.
I just don't know what will happen next. Do you think it is a good sign that the New York State seems to be getting rid of possible corruption through these federal investigations or does this all make uus look like a laughing stock to the rest of the country. Who could be next? I'm not sure but I can tell you that through some of my friends and sources at the Capital many others are worried that their name will be the next one called.
