Popular Doughnut Shop Adds Second Location in Colonie May Have 3 Soon
Doughnuts seem to be all the rage lately and one doughnut shop that has been popular in the Capital Region now has two locations open and may be considering a third.
This Doughnut Shop's 2nd Location Opened in 2020 but Had to Close the Original
Back in February of 2020 Cider Belly Doughnuts opened its second location in Colonie. But, you guessed it, COVID-19 made its original location on Pearl Street in Albany close.
This made co-owners Jennifer and Andy Novak focus on the new location on Fuller Road in Colonie.
The Second Cider Belly Location Was Bigger So They Went Full-Force
They purchased 53 Fuller Road in Colonie in early 2020. After temporarily closing the North Pearl Street location, they focused on the new location through the winter. They overhauled the entire building. It was Supper Taco.
The New Cider Belly Doughnuts is Bigger
The Cider Belly Doughnuts location in Colonie is bigger than the downtown location. They are able to make many more doughnuts in Colonie to the tune of four times more. Also, Fuller Road has more visibility and higher traffic according to the Albany Business Review.
There is currently no seating at the new location but they are planning on opening up the patio so customers don't have to go out to their cars to enjoy their delicious doughnuts.
They Are Trying to Keep Costs Down
The owners say that their costs for ingredients keep going up. They won't compromise on the highest quality fruits and vegan chocolate. Plus sugar and cocoa powder has increased which has caused Cider Belly to raise its prices.
Could There Be a Third Cider Belly Location?
There could be a third location in the works. The owners have said that they may have another location with a new concept. We may find out soon. They might be signed by the end of June.
