Suspicious activity in Albany

Albany Police say the driver of an SUV "suspiciously" stopped to talk to kids he didn't know on Tuesday afternoon in broad daylight.  Thankfully unharmed, the young child whom he allegedly approached, went home and told his parents.

What happened on Tuesday?

According to a news release from the Albany Police Department, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon around 1:20 pm.  That's when, according to police, "the driver of the vehicle attempted to speak with a child not known to him while in the area of Whitehall Road and McDonald Road."

While the young man was not harmed, he was clearly a bit shaken by the presence of the strange man and went home to tell his parents.

According to the report, Albany police officers responded to the scene and "immediately began to conduct a preliminary investigation into the suspicious activity."

Police have released a photo of the vehicle and a description of the man, and they hope anyone reading this right now may have more information.

  • The driver of the vehicle is described as a Hispanic male
  • He is approximately 40 years of age
  • He's described as having a black beard or goatee
  • The vehicle is described as a dark-colored SUV
