Police Make Arrest in Hoosick Hit and Run Case
New York State Police have arrested Becky Goodermote, from Hoosick Falls, after she allegedly left the scene of a hit and run accident in which a 39 year old Petersburgh man, Matthew Ratelle was substantially injured. Goodermote struck Ratelle from behind while riding his bicycle on NY Route 22. He remains in critical condition at Albany Medical Center. Initially police suspected texting was involved, but according to the charges filed, it was a much different cause.
According to arrest documents, Goodermote has been charged with leaving the scene of a serious personal injry accident, operating a vehicle while under the impairment of drugs, driving with suspended license, and failure to use due care. She has been detained at the Rensselaer County jail and is pending other charges.
Police were lead to Goodermote after a concerned family member noticed damage to her vehicle, which she couldn't explain.
