Today, Aug. 28, 2012 marks one year since Tropical Storm Irene hit New York.  As the storm approached, I don't think any one us imagined what would happen in the aftermath here in Upstate New York.

Homes were lifted off foundations, precious memories were washed away, and everyone braced for the unexpected. As we take a moment to remember the tragedy of one year ago, we'd like to know your 'Irene/Lee' story.

Do you remember where you were one year ago?  Did you prepare for the storm? Did your home suffer damage? Do you remember the people that came together to help?

Please share your own experiences in the comment section below or Email them to kevinrichards@wgna.com.  We'll feature some of your stories in a special article showcasing YOUR memories from one year ago. (Hurricane Irene hit New York on Aug. 28, 2011 and Tropical Storm Lee reached the state Sept. 7, 2011).

One of my favorite memories was trying to raise relief  funds with other GNA staff members and listeners.  For my small portion, I did a little fundraising the "old fashioned way," click this link to see if you remember. (Don't forget to share YOUR story below).
