Today, Aug. 28, 2012 marks one year since Tropical Storm Irene hit New York.  As the storm approached, I don't think any one us imagined what would happen in the aftermath here in Upstate New York.

Two Albany area members of the Nurse Practitioners Association of New York State (NPA) were recently recognized by the Albany County Medical Reserve Corps for their ongoing dedication and work as volunteer responders during the critical hours following Tropical Storm Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

Radio is still the fastest and most reliable way to get emergency information out to the public.  In the wake of recent snow storms, power outages, hurricanes, and tropical storms GNA stayed on the air to keep the public informed, something an Ipod or Computer Jukebox can't do.

Tropical Storms Irene and Lee have caused many problems here in the Northeast. Not only did it cause flooding and destruction thoughout the area. It also caused the cancellation of many blood drives.

Here it is almost a month after Tropical Storm Irene hit the Albany area and surrounding communities, and you would think that the recovery would be almost complete.

Road closures have been a part of everyday life in the Albany area and surrounding communities and states, because of Tropical Storm Irene.

It’s been almost two weeks since Tropical Storm Irene blasted through the Albany area and surrounding communities, and now with all the recent rains, things do not seem to be getting any better. In some cases, it’s getting worse.

Hurricane Irene, that hit our area as Tropical Storm Irene has made this one hell of a week for so many people, right here in the Albany area and surrounding communities, but I don’t have to tell you that.

Despite all the crappy weather we had yesterday, the weather is going to be much brighter this week.
