One Last Blast Of Winter For Upstate NY Tuesday

It happens every year, and winter is ready to make an April guest appearance.

80 degrees last Thursday, and now a blast of up to 8 inches of snow for some and winter weather in the forecast this week.

That is just how Mother Nature rolls during April in Upstate New York! In fact, as I am writing this on Easter Sunday I am watching snowflakes fly around outside. Nothing like some snow showers to get you in the spirit for that Easter egg hunt.

Winter Weather Returns To Upstate New York This Week

The best part of all of this is we will actually kick off the week with a high in the upper 50s. But Monday night into Tuesday morning is when things will get interesting according to the National Weather Service.

In higher elevations and areas around Albany, areas like Johnstown and Duanesburg will see 1-2 inches, Westerlo 3-4 inches, and parts of the Adirondacks, the Hunter area of the Catskills, and southern Vermont could get up to 8 inches of snow through Tuesday according to the NWS estimates below.

Here in the Albany area, we can expect to see a mix of rain and snow Tuesday morning, with accumulations around 1 to 2 inches. We will then switch to all rain after the morning commute. So maybe at the worst, we can expect a messy commute in the Albany area, fingers crossed!

Overall for many of the higher elevation areas, there is a very high likelihood of getting at least 6 inches of snow! So maybe once all the Easter candy is gone today, make sure that snow-blower is ready for one last run before you shut it down for the season.
