Get ready to find an alternative. There is a law that bans plastic straws in Albany County. Here's what you need to know. According to SpectrumLocalNews.com, a bill passed on Monday through the Albany County Legislature has banned the use of plastic straws county-wide. This will make it illegal for restaurants and fast food locations from having plastic straws available. They are also banning plastic spoons, forks, and knives.

Now the County Health Department will have to educate the foodservice industry on the changes and enforcing the laws. The law will take effect six months after the law is enacted. A $250 could be applied to repeat offenders.

Disney properties and theme parks have already implemented the use of paper straws. There has to be a better product to use than paper. They disintegrate, and they rip very easily. I am hoping they can find something better than paper straws. I guess we will find out in time.
