It looks like come this fall you will be hearing a local voice announcing Monday Night Football on ESPN.

Niskayuna native Joe Tessitore will reportedly be joining the Monday Night Football broadcast team at ESPN this fall, according to a NYUP story. Tessitore has been at ESPN since 2003, and at one time was a weekend sports announcer at CBS 6.

NYUP quotes a Times Union source who said the news probably will not be made official until Joe's analyst partner is selected. The former broadcast team of Jon Gruden and Sean McDonough both moved on for other opportunities: Gruden as coach of the Oakland Raiders and McDonough will be moving to ESPN's coverage of college football, says NYUP.

I don't think you needed another reason to watch the NFL on ESPN, but now you have a great one. It will be pretty cool to have a Capital Region voice anchoring one of the NFL's legendary institutions, not to mention he will be joining a long list of legendary broadcasters who are a part of Monday Night Football's storied history.
