Happy National Singles Awareness Day! Strange to have that as a national day, right? Well, if you're looking to change that for next year, here are the best places for singles here in the Capital Region.

The PR firm Homesnacks.net compiled a list of the best places to be single in the state of New York, reported by The Daily Gazette. They based it on population density, the percentage of male vs female in population and how close it is to 50/50, percent of household with children, median age, and the number of unmarried people.

Out of the top 10 of all New York cities, the Capital Region faired pretty well taking 4 of the top 10 spots. Our three biggest, Albany, Schenectady, and Troy all made an appearance on the list as well as Watervliet.

1. Ithaca
2. Troy
3. Watervliet
4. Binghamton
5. Rochester
6. Schenectady
7. Albany
8. Plattsburgh
9. Geneva
10. Syracuse

Out of all of the states in the country, Homesnacks.net also reported that New York ranks in the top 10 of states where the number of people over 18 and unmarried is high which are great odds for someone looking for a partner. Now that we know Troy, Schenectady, Watervliet, and Albany are great for singles, now where do people go when they're there? Do you have any ideas?
