2010- Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry are flooded when the Cumberland River overflows.  The Opry stage is submerged under 2 feet of muddy water, the Country Music Hall of Fame has a flooded basement, LP field and Bridgestone Arena are water logged up to the seats, and several Nashville homes and businesses are damaged. True to tradition, the Grand Ole Opry never misses a show while several celebrities host fundraisers to help their community rebuild.

2009- Clint Black is "fired" from Donald Trump's "Celebrity Apprentice."

2006- Ricky Van Shelton officially retires from the Country Music industry.  In a letter posted on his web site, Ricky claims that he just wants to be close to his family.

1994- Garth is named the ACM's Entertainer of the Year, for the voting year of 1993.  Later that night, his wife Sandy gives birth to their second child.

Birthdays

Eric Church, 1977.  Eric breaks through with 2006's 'How 'Bout You.'  His star continues to rise with 'I Love Your Love The Most' and 'Guys Like Me.'
