The governor along with the governors of two other states agreed to open marinas, boatyards, and launches with certain restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. This past weekend, Governor Andrew Cuomo along with the governors of New Jersey and Connecticut announced that marinas and boatyards will be reopened with a few restrictions and guidelines.

According to WIVB.com and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), all marinas and boatyards including launches can be open for personal use as long as sanitation and social distancing guidelines are followed. This includes state-owned boat launches of all types and sizes across the state.

This opening is prohibited from chartered services and rentals. Restaurants that are open at a marina or boatyard can only to take-out or delivery. This will still allow patrons to enjoy the waterways throughout the Capital Region and also patronize the restaurants at the marinas by getting to-go orders either for your boating experience or for home afterward.

The boating season officially begins in May.
