A 41-year-old man and another person were walking his dogs on near Corinth when he noticed that a New York State Trooper saw him.

When he noticed that, he decided it was time to take off, so he handed the dogs over to the companion. Shawn P. Smith was allegedly a wanted man. He knew that the trooper knew who he was so after the dogs were handed off, his attempt started by jumping from a bridge into a creek. After that, Smith darted from that area of the  scene on foot.

Smith was allegedly wanted for warrants by several different police agencies including the New York State Police in Saratoga, The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department and The New York State Police in Clifton Park. Smith’s charges include Petit Larceny, Failure To Report Change Of Address within 10 days as a Sex Offender and Grand Larceny.

Authorities secured a wooded area where police had chased Smith into. K9s and a helicopter were called into assist with the search, which ended successfully. Smith was sent to jail after his arraignment.

The person who was walking with Smith was also in a little trouble. He, also, was sent to jail. He also, allegedly had some outstanding warrants. According to the article from The Times Union, because he was accused of assisting Smith, he was charged with a couple of misdemeanors, including Hindering Prosecution and Obstruction.
