Lanes Closed Route 9 in Malta and Saratoga Starting Today ’til Nov
Let construction season continue. There is a long stretch of Route 9 that will be getting a makeover which means lane closures through Malta and part of Saratoga. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will begin resurfacing that part of the roadway starting today.
According to News 10 ABC, the NYSDOT will be bringing Route 9 down to just one lane in each direction weekdays starting today (September 7th) and running through early November. The lane closures will happen each day from 6 am until 5 pm. The project starts just after the Malta roundabout north of Route 67 and will continue just north of the Avenue of the Pines in Saratoga Springs.
How will this affect events at SPAC? The NYSDOT assures concertgoers that the lane closure will not affect the shows happening at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. They say that the lanes will open at 3:30 pm on days of shows at SPAC.
Not only will they be resurfacing that entire part of Route 9, but they will also be upgrading existing sidewalks and ramps.
I am just happy to hear that they are just resurfacing Route 9 in that area. I thought they might add three or four more roundabouts. We all know that there are already plenty in that area. Plus it is just a couple of months of inconvenience for a roadway that needs to be resurfaced to be a safer way to travel.
Also, be aware that you should be alert and slow down in the work zones and remember that fines are doubled for speeding in these work zones.
