Albany County Farmers Market is Set to Be Launched This Summer!
Albany County's Innovation Fund was created back in November of 2021 when MVP Arena took over the naming rights to the county-owned arena, previously known as the Times Union Center. Their contract included $1.4 million annually over the course of five years to support both the fund and other projects within the community. The fund's first major project? A new Farmers Market for downtown Albany, the Albany County Farmers Market! (Steve Hughes, timesunion.com).
It's no surprise that yet another Upstate Farmers Market is set to launch this summer, this time through a partnership with Albany County and MVP Health Care, as well as the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (Steve Hughes, timesunion.com). A true upstate New Yorker can never get enough farmers markets. They're always filled with fresh and delicious high quality food items at low costs. It's also a great way to get involved with your community and help out a local business.
Our goal is to operate a vibrant, open-air market series that provides our neighbors with fresh, high-quality food and artisan goods sourced from local farmers and producers. The market also seeks to strengthen and further activate our neighborhood by providing entertainment, family activities, nutritional education, and support for local nonprofit organizations. -Business Improvement District, downtownalbany.org
