Mr. Brightside” by The Killers was the second single from the band's debut album Hot Fuss. It was released in 2003 (ugh, we’re old), but it didn’t become the iconic hit it is today until it was rereleased to pop radio a year later.
Since then, the tune has become one of the most streamed songs of all time, with The New York Times comparing it to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and dubbing it “a generation’s anthem.”

When the song blares on a pair of speakers, it's easy to see why, because, well...

It's a banger.

“Mr. Brightside” Is The New Sporting Event Anthem

“Mr. Brightside” became synonymous with sports after it was adopted by University of Michigan football fans, and has since made a comeback at sporting events in arenas and stadiums around the country.

It’s usually played when the home team is down, or fans are disappointed with a call, to help boost up morale (which is ironic, considering the song is about crushing heartbreak after a breakup). Still, it’s fun to sing along at the top of your lungs, regardless if your team is winning or losing.
