As we honor Martin Luther King Jr. day on WGNA, we take a moment to feature two songs that best represent the spirit of this day.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a Baptist minister and social activist who was an important part of the American civil rights movement from the mid-1950s. King's work helped bring about the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  As we honor his life and work today, we showcase these modern country music hits best represent his spirit.

We Shall Be Free- Garth Brooks (Garth does not share his official videos on the web, this is a fan created video). Brooks (pictured above) sang at President Obama's first inaugural celebration.

Welcome To The Future- Brad Paisley. A song Brad wrote after President Obama won his first election, Paisley is scheduled to sing at Obama's second inaugural celebration on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2013.
