If you're expecting a baby, congratulations- such a super exciting time in your life! Last Halloween, I was expecting my first and wanted to dress up, but didn't want to spend a lot of money or be trapped in an uncomfortable costume, so I turned to my friends for ideas. What they came up with was fantastic!

If you're looking for a simple, but creative Halloween costume for your pregnant self, I'm not kidding when I say that I didn't spend more than $10 on the entire costume. I was even able to buy everything I needed all in one place. Not having to run all over town was an added bonus, because let's face it- pregnancy is exhausting!

At the craft store, I picked up a long sleeve black shirt, white iron on letters, a foam pumpkin and some fabric glue. At home, I laid everything out on my dining room table and placed iron on letters across the chest of my shirt and applied them per the package directions. Then, I used fabric glue to apply the pumpkin to the belly area of the shirt. To achieve the perfect placement, I put the shirt on and then used a safety pin to mark on the shirt where my baby bump was so I knew exactly where to glue the pumpkin.

On Halloween day, I teased my hair and went crazy with volumizing and texturing powder. I dug out leftover Halloween makeup from the year before to transform my face to look like a zombie. The final result? I was a zombie pumpkin smuggler! Get it? Baby...pumpkin...smuggler. This is my completed costume:

You wouldn't believe how many people stopped me to tell me how much they loved my costume and an added bonus was that I was able to stay comfortable by wearing my maternity jeans and flats.
