The Bayou Cafe will be closing in January after 23 years in business.

It was definitely a good run for the Bayou Cafe! According to a Times Union report, the popular spot will close on January 12th. Bayou will also host a farewell party on January 5th, Until the closing, the Times Union report says will be operating it's normal business hours.

The Bayou has ties to many legendary Capital Region spots as owner/operator Ralph Spillenger at various times has had a hand in great venues like the the Bijou in Saratoga Springs, Bayou Cafe in Albany and Jillian's in Albany. Spillenger told the Times Union he decided to move on from the Bayou as it has gotten more difficult to find good help over the last few years.

It is always tough seeing a local spot close, but 23 years is a great run for any business. And who knows, maybe someone at some point will pick up where Ralph leaves off.
