From a story that I saw on Newschannel 13, 37-year-old Matthew Woelfersheim from Guilderland was accused of allegedly setting fire to a building on Carmen Road in Guilderland in September.

This is only the beginning. It is believed that Woelfersheim may have been involved with torching several other structures in Rensselaer County, possibly as far back as eight years.

He used to be the assistant of the Schaghticoke fire chief, and also a member of the Hoosick Rescue Squad. He was accused of stealing equipment from the Schaghticoke Fire Department several years ago. That’s when he left the Schaghticoke Fire Department.

There is now a large scale investigation being conducted.
