A small local spot in Latham that many people stop into for a quiet breakfast or an afternoon treat is preparing to close its doors later this month.

The owner shared the news on Facebook, saying the decision did not come easily and thanking customers for their support over the years. March 29th is expected to be the final day of service, unless something changes before then.

The business is The Tailored Tea, located at 1010 Troy Schenectady Road. Owner and chef Jared Bafaro said he plans to close for the foreseeable future but will keep serving customers through the end of the month. He added that he will continue to focus on good food and friendly service right up until the last day.

Bafaro first put the business up for sale in 2023. While he does not own the building, which is rented from the Albany International Airport, the restaurant itself is available to buy, according to News 10 ABC.

As of Friday, he said he still had not found a buyer. If someone steps forward before March 29th, he would like to see the place remain open. The shop is known for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea, along with weekend brunch and a steady following for its scones. Menus are posted online for anyone looking to stop in one more time.

Bafaro also shared his gratitude for the community, saying it has been a pleasure to cook for people, share a laugh, and greet customers when he steps out of the kitchen to run food.
